#3 Quality of Content

The quality of your website content is a major factor in the amount of traffic your website will get and the number of sales you can potentially make. Furthermore, the higher the quality of the website, the more users will trust the site. A lot of users generally trust a high-quality website because they will think that if the website is good then the products/ service will also be good. Let me ask you this, would you do your online banking on a low-quality site? I wouldn’t! You never know how safe it is. 

Good quality isn’t just the way it looks, it also needs to be easy to navigate around so the user can find what they want efficiently. Look at the image here, this is an example of a website that is cluttered and difficult to navigate. This is very typical of a website for a smaller business, from an era where web stores were expensive and difficult to set-up.

A clean and fresh theme should run throughout your whole site. For example, B&Q’s website has high-quality pictures, a clear colour scheme, and a consistent design throughout all of their pages; it symbolically conveys the B&Q brand, keeping the user engaged with the content.

Of course, B&Q have a large web team specialising in designing and honing their web store, which is beyond smaller businesses. 

A modern site is achievable

So although we have shown the difference between the ideal and how a lot of smaller businesses look. So does that mean you cannot afford a modern and professional looking webshop? That always used to be the case, however, with modern technologies, it is now possible for smaller companies to have a market leading webshop.
